NPA Open Gardens: Highlights of the 2019 Garden Tours
Presented by Donna Bogumill and Julia Graham
11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Join NPA’s Open Gardens Project Chairs, Donna and Julia, as they take you on an awe-inspiring photographic tour of NPA’s 2019 Open Gardens. This presentation captures the highlights from 100 gardens opened to our members last season. Most are private gardens not typically open to the public, which makes seeing them even more special.
What a perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the diversity of our member’s garden styles, fantastic plant combinations, unique garden art, and cleaver ideas. And a perfect way to find inspiration for your own garden – in the middle of winter!
NPA’s annual drawing for several winners of a Wells-Medina Nursery gift certificate, given to lucky Garden Hosts and Open Garden Visitors, will take place after this presentation. Always entertaining, especially for the winners.
Don’t miss this last chance to see Open Gardens you missed visiting last summer. Come early to save a seat while you shop NPA’s plant sale. There just might be cookies too.
Ciscoe Morris: Favorite Plants and Tips to Welcome Spring
Learn about Ciscoe’s Gardening Experiences and Latest Book, Oh, La, La
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
NPA is pleased to welcome Seattle’s own gardening guru and media personality, Ciscoe Morris, to our “Promise of Spring” event. Ciscoe is Western Washington’s best-known gardener. He is a King County Master Gardener, an ISA-certified arborist and a WSNLA-certified horticulturalist. And he’s extremely funny!
Ciscoe Morris is well known in the media. Every other Monday morning, he appears on KING5’s New Day Northwest tv show with Margaret Larson. His popular ‘Gardening with Ciscoe’ show airs on KING/KONG tv. You can also catch his gardening advice, mixed with a hearty dose of humor, every Saturday on News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM radio. His book, Ask Ciscoe, was among the top-selling garden books nationwide. In addition, Ciscoe co-authored books on roses and perennials, and wrote a weekly garden column for the Seattle Post Intelligencer followed by the Seattle Times.
He can often be found working in his Northeast Seattle garden, which has been featured in several publications. Besides gardening, Ciscoe is passionate about travel. Despite his busy schedule, he manages to find time to lead garden tours to countries all over the world.
Ciscoe’s new book, Oh, La, La, is due out in January, 2020. NPA hopes he will have copies available to purchase at our “Promise of Spring” event, where you just might get the author’s signature!
