Open Gardens - Four inspiration-filled days of garden tours, starting with North Seattle and South Sound gardens on Friday. Saturday gardens will be in Bellevue and Redmond, along with a ‘Tea at the Border’ at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. On Sunday West Seattle gardens are open. North Seattle and South Sound gardens are again opened on Monday to cap off the weekend, so if you missed any of them, now is your chance to see them. We’ll have 22 exceptional gardens open, all making their Study Weekend debut.
Plant Market – Clear out your car! Our finest regional specialty nurseries will bring you choice, must-have plants. We’ll have secure storage, and on Sunday morning phyto-inspection will be available for our Canadian attendees.
Book Nook – Our speakers’ books and other popular titles will be available for sale, with author book signings during our Book Nook hours.
Solstice Celebration - On Saturday evening, June 19, we open the Bellevue Hilton doors to garden lovers for a dessert party and an inspiring monolog by Steve Lorton, premiering the sequel to his nationally celebrated lecture, “My Life in Other People’s Gardens.” Fine wine and coffee drinks, delicious fruits and desserts, chocolate fondue, camaraderie and inspirational entertainment will make this an evening to remember. It’s a party not to be missed!
Creative Workshops – Get in touch with your inner muse! Choose from two concurrent workshops: “Introduction to Garden Writing” with former Sunset editor Steve Lorton, or “Introduction to Botanical Illustration” with award-winning artist Louise Smith. We’re offering each 3-hour course at the Bellevue Hilton on Friday from 2 pm – 5 pm.
Tea at the Border – During Saturday’s Open Gardens stop by to see the newly renovated NPA Border, a major 2-year project. There will be tea and cookies for refreshments along with docents available for tours.
And Much More - Mid-morning refreshments are included during the lecture times and gourmet box lunches (including vegetarian selections) are available to order with registration for you to take as you visit the gardens (no dinners are provided). Plus there’s plenty of free parking.
